On Saturday 16th March 2019 at 7.30pm we will be welcoming Vocalis, Harrogate’s leading Chamber Choir, to St John’s for their concert entitled ‘Jesu, joy of man’s desiring’. Alex Kyle, their Musical Director has chosen a splendid programme to illustrate the mutual influence between English and German music from the Baroque period onwards.  The programme includes pieces by Purcell, Blow, Handel, Haydn, Brahms, Mendelssohn Bruckner, Parry, Elgar, Mauerberger, Maxwell Davies and two pieces by Bach (one the final movement of St Matthew Passion) which represent the continuous influence of Bach in both countries that persists to this day.  Wine and soft drinks will be available in the church hub during the interval.  Tickets available on line fromhttp://www.harrogatevocalis.org.uk/ or ring 07815 767433.  Adults £12; Students £5; under 19s and carers assisting wheelchair users free.
